- In the technical area you work in, how is the industry developing? Is your solution adapting to that trend or going against it?
- A company’s frontend projects live in separate repositories, and someone proposes merging them into a monorepo. How would you decide whether to do it, and how would you validate it in steps?
- A major promotion or international launch may increase traffic fivefold next year. Starting from the current architecture, how would you check for bottlenecks in the gateway, critical request flows, storage, and machine resources? How would you phase the work, staff it, and validate your assumptions?

- In the past year, how much team capacity did you secure to address technical debt (accumulated maintenance and rework) or improve engineering infrastructure such as builds and releases? When these problems slow product work, how do you explain their impact and risk to business leaders and secure time to refactor?
- The team wants to keep optimizing the performance of a core API. What basis do you use to decide how far is far enough, and when to stop investing more?
- A new platform could reduce future development cost, but the legacy system needs two more years of support and this quarter funds only one major investment. How would you compare build, migration, and status-quo options?
- Three business teams have raised similar needs, and someone suggests building a shared platform. How do you judge whether it is worth building, or whether each domain should first get a local solution?
- The business wants new features while the team has built up technical debt. How do you decide how much to invest in each this quarter?
- Two projects each meet some goals, but one delivers more user benefit per unit of investment. How would you reallocate resources?
- If you had to plan a technical direction over three to five years, how would you do it? How do you keep it from becoming a vision list that cannot be tested?
- A platform has migration, reliability, and productivity workstreams, but annual capacity supports only two. How would you sequence and trade off the quarters?
- A team plans to end support for an old technology, but critical systems still depend on it and replacement is expensive. How would you create a retirement roadmap?
- The same product has different technical debt, release cadence, and user behavior on iOS, Android, and web; the roadmap still schedules uniform feature milestones, leaving one platform early and another far behind. How would you plan across platforms and define consistency boundaries?
- A developer tool saves about 200 hours monthly, but output has not clearly increased; the team wants to invest more in automation. How would you determine where the saved time is absorbed and whether more investment is worthwhile?
